This week, we’re revealing the history of our sailboat, the classic and legendary 1958 Bounty II sloop, Vashti, of Detroit, Michigan. The first fiberglass hull manufactured over 40 feet, she was designed by Phillip Rhodes, and built by the Aeromarine Plastics Company in Sausalito, California. A regular Bayview Mackinac Race contender, and named after a biblical queen from the book of Esther. Her wins of the Mackinac Race were 1960, 1965, and 1993. Now a cherished fixture of the Detroit Yacht Club, she is being refitted again, but this time for offshore sailing adventures.
